The armistice had been signed that morning. It took effect at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month and after four years of war, the fighting stopped. In 1954, Armistice Day became the day Americans know as Veterans Day.
This design keeps that moment in the record: the hour, the day and the month, set in worn woodtype, with each 11 picked out in red.
